The Series 82 fee, up front

The Series 82 (Private Securities Offerings Representative) exam fee is $100 as of 2026, paid to FINRA when you enroll. To sit for it, you must be associated with and sponsored by a FINRA member firm, and it's taken alongside the SIE as a corequisite. Fees change, so confirm the current fee with FINRA before you register.

What the Series 82 actually costs

Who pays it: since the Series 82 requires sponsorship by a FINRA member firm, that firm usually covers the fee — so your out-of-pocket is often $0.
Retakes: you pay the full $100 again for each attempt, on top of the required wait between tries.
Also budget the SIE: its corequisite carries its own fee. Optional prep for either is extra.

The real cost is failing

The $100 fee is small compared to the cost of failing: another $100 retake, a mandatory waiting period, and delay in getting registered. That's why good Series 82 prep pays for itself the first time.
